THE High Court has given the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) a deadline of 4 p.m. today to charge two of the men held in connection with the murder of Chaguanas businessman Imraz "Clubs" Ali, whose body was found wrapped in plastic off the North Coast Road on October 11.
During a virtual hearing before Justice Karen Reid on Thursday, the judge issued the order on an application for a writ of habeas corpus filed on behalf of the two suspects, by attorney Taradath Singh.
The order was mainly focused on the detention of one of the men - a 28-year-old market vendor from the Carapichaima area – who provided an affidavit in support of the application. Justice Reid ordered that if he is not charged by 4 p.m., today he, together with the other suspect are to be released immediately from police custody.
