A whale shark that was spotted over the weekend swimming in Chaguaramas has died.

This according to the Fishermen and Friends of the Sea (FFOS) which today released a statement mourning the loss of the creature.

According to the release the ‘gentle giant’ had a visible wound on its back when it was first spotted, and had been swimming in distress. But before any assistance could be rendered, it said, the animal swam into deeper waters.
