…country retains Tier 1 status in TIP report despite fewer victims referred for care
The United States Department of State has lamented the sloth within Guyana’s judicial system, highlighting that major criminal trials, such as for Trafficking in Persons (TIP), take as long as four years to be completed.
This comment was made in the State Department’s 2026 Trafficking in Persons Report, which was released on Thursday. The report assesses Government efforts around the world to combat human trafficking.
