The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association is warning that a proposed 76% increase in natural gas prices by State-owned National Gas Company—from US$3 to US$5.30 per MMBtu—could squeeze businesses already burdened by higher electricity costs and shipping fees, increasing the risk of broader inflation.

As a result, the TTMA has written to NGC, calling for the price increase for Light Industrial Customers, or non-energy manufacturers, to begin at US$4 per MMBtu in 2026, followed by annual increases of about 4% over a three-year period through 2028.
