Every day at 4 a.m., Khemraj Rampersad begins his routine—administering medication, preparing meals, and offering round-the-clock care for his mother, 69-year-old Hasina Hosein.
“She was always there for us, with no complaints,” he said. “She always sacrificed for us.”
Now it is Rampersad who has taken on the role of full-time caregiver. Hosein, of Claxton Bay, was diagnosed in January with early-stage dementia. She also suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and epilepsy. Just this year, she was hospitalised three times following severe seizures.
