During his contribution to the debate in the House of Representatives on Friday, Defence Minister Sturge claimed the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service had prior knowledge of a threat against slain prosecutor Dana Seetahal but failed to act.
Sturge said the police relied on surveillance but did not act decisively before Seetahal was murdered in 2014.
“The police listened, and they listened, and they listened, and now she’s not here,” he said, adding that Seetahal had known she was at risk but chose not to have personal security.
