Prime MinÂisÂter Philip Davis guidÂed his rulÂing ProÂgresÂsive LibÂerÂal ParÂty (PLP) to a record secÂond conÂsecÂuÂtive term in ofÂfice afÂter it swept TuesÂday’s genÂerÂal elecÂtion, which he had called ahead of the conÂstiÂtuÂtionÂal deadÂline.
No poÂlitÂiÂcal parÂty has ever formed the govÂernÂment for two conÂsecÂuÂtive terms since 1997, when HuÂbert InÂgraÂham led the then rulÂing Free NaÂtionÂal MoveÂment (FNM) to vicÂtoÂry afÂter topÂpling the PLP in 1992.
Davis had guidÂed his PLP to powÂer in the SepÂtemÂber 16, 2021 genÂerÂal elecÂtion, winÂning 32 of the 39 seats.
