The Strategic Services Agency (SSA) has a new director in the person of Arthur Barrington, former head of Special Branch, effective April 1, 2025.
Prime Minister Stuart Young announced at his first post-Cabinet news conference at Whitehall, Port of Spain, yesterday that Barrington has been selected by Cabinet to take over the intelligence agency.
The SSA received a major shake-up in March 2023 which saw the removal of its head Roger Best and deputy director Joanne Daniel, along with other employees, including Pastor Ian Albert Ezekiel Brown, amid allegations of a plot to establish a military-style pro-Christian government.
