PATRIOTIC Front leader Mickela Panday has questioned the Government’s decision to seek a three-month extension of the state of emergency (SoE), saying she does not accept the administration’s explanation that the measure is solely aimed at fighting crime.
In a video posted on social media yesterday, Panday argued that many citizens remain unconvinced by the Government’s justification for extending the emergency powers beyond June 17. She said enough is enough.
“Enough of the excuses, enough of the double standards and enough of this Government trying to convince the people of Trinidad and Tobago that what we are seeing with our own eyes is not happening. The Government says that this extension of the state of emergency is about fighting crime. I don’t believe it and neither do many citizens who are watching what is unfolding in this country,” she said.
