AT the memorial service for her on Republic Day yesterday, Dr Dorothy Fayholme Williams-Chandler was remembered as a trailblazer, a mentor, and a lover of life.
Affectionately called Fay, Williams-Chandler was one of the country’s first female surgeons.
Tributes flowed from those who knew her locally, across in Jamaica and also as far as Ireland. Several recalled her strength, her smile and laughter, and her empathy and compassion.
