The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) has ramped up its support to Guyana’s search and rescue operation following the sinking of the passenger ferry MV Barima, deploying both aircraft and a Coast Guard vessel to assist in the effort, the Ministry of Defence confirmed Tuesday.

In a media release, the Ministry said the TTDF began mobilising after receiving a request for assistance from Guyana on Sunday evening, in the immediate aftermath of what it described as “the tragic maritime incident.”
