PRIME MINISTER Kamla Persad-Bissessar acknowledged that her Government might not have been able to give police officers everything they wanted, but said it was making every effort to meet its obligations to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), including providing $458 million for overtime payments during the current fiscal year.
Addressing the TTPS' Divali celebration in Port of Spain on Thursday night, Persad- Bissessar said she took seriously the responsibility of ensuring that officers received fair treatment for their service.
She referred to a teaching from the Holy Ramayana in which Lord Rama questioned whether soldiers were receiving their daily provisions and salaries without delay.
