PARAMARIBO, Suriname (CMC) — A 45-year-old Guyanese man has been remanded into custody after he was suspected of attempting to smuggle a quantity of cough syrup into Suriname.
In a statement, the police said that the man, identified by his initials FGJ, had also violated both the Aliens Act and the Smuggling Act.
The man was reportedly stopped at the Burnside checkpoint because his passport lacked a valid entry.
