Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s statement to the United Nations that the Caribbean is no zone of peace has garnered differing views from analysts and international relational experts, with one supporting her position and others saying her remarks require further explanation and clarification.

“The notion that the Caribbean is a zone of peace has become a false ideal. The reality is stark—no such peace exists today,” Persad-Bissessar said.
