Mere days away from the April 28 general election, a video has surfaced which shows a woman picking up poll cards from a drain. The voice was overheard saying, “People ballot paper flying all over the place and they want people to come out and vote. All in the drain it flying.”
In response to the video yesterday, Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation (TTPost) issued a release condemning the “misleading video” which was “another attempt at deliberate mischief.” TTPost did not however state whether the poll cards in question were real.
Instead, the release said the video falsely suggests that electoral poll cards found scattered on what appears to be a sidewalk were discarded by TTPost delivery officers but that this “allegation is entirely baseless and appears to be yet another deliberate attempt at political mischief aimed at eroding public confidence in our operations”.
