(Kaieteur News) – Guyana’s boxers made an emphatic statement at the 2026 Inter Guiana Games (IGG) in Suriname with a clean sweep of their bouts as the sport made its historic debut at the regional competition since the Games were conceptualised in 1967.
Under the guidance of coach Lennox Daniels, the Guyanese pugilists delivered a commanding performance, winning all five contests against their Surinamese counterparts and underlining the country’s growing strength in the sport.
With boxing contested between Guyana and Suriname, the programme also featured several exhibition bouts that entertained spectators before the competitive action took centre stage on the lawns of the Anthony Nesty Stadium.
