GFS pushes mandatory sprinklers, smoke detectors in new buildings

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) is recommending the installation of automatic fire-sprinkler systems and smoke detectors in residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, hospitality, and storage buildings as construction of multi-storey structures increases across the country.
The recommendation has been made through the GFSโs engagement with the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA), as Guyana experiences continued economic growth and increased development.
The Fire Service said the measures are intended to strengthen fire safety and protect lives and property.
