Director of the Agricultural Society of Trinidad and Tobago (ASTT) Donny Rogers says that the focus on financial reform and micro/cottage industry startups can contribute to greater food security within the agricultural sector.
Through these avenues, he projects that the “historically high food import bill” can be curbed, allowing farmers and food processors sustainable livelihoods and business continuity.
An agricultural consultant and agripreneur, Rogers told the Express yesterday that the current food import bill stands at $7.3 billion.
