PM, Moonilal won’t be allowed to ‘rewrite history’

As the Government seeks to repair diplomatic relations with Venezuela, former prime minister and energy minister Stuart Young yesterday claimed that Prime Minister Kamla Persad-­Bissessar and Energy and Ener­gy Industries Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal would not be allowed to “rewrite history”.

When he attended an event in La Brea on Tuesday, Moonilal referenced Trinidad and Tobago’s relations with the South American country, claiming that Foreign and Caricom Affairs Minister Sean Sobers had done a “major job” in repairing what he said was damage done by the former People’s National Movement (PNM) administration.

His comments followed months of diplomatic tensions between the two countries over the United States’ milita­ry build-up in Caribbean waters and military boat strikes that preceded its extraction of Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro in early January.
