Students preparing for next yearâs Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) examinations will be able to take up to four subjects under the newest qualification, the Caribbean Targeted Education Certificate (CTEC).
Following a successful pilot of the CTEC mathematics in this yearâs May-June examinations, three additional core subjects âEnglish language, English literature, and integrated science â will be offered next year. The programme is expected to expand to nine subjects during the 2027-2028 academic year.
Describing the CTEC as a âgame changerâ, CXC Registrar and Chief Executive Officer Dr Wayne Wesley said the initiative reflects the regional examination bodyâs effort to adapt to changing learning environments and student needs.
