“Dissident” incumbent Member of Parliament for Tabaquite Anita Haynes-Alleyne has been left in the political wilderness.
She was told by her party yesterday that she would not be the prospective candidate ahead of the April 28 general election.
The decision follows months of internal friction within the United National Congress (UNC), culminating in a shake-up within the party’s ranks, with the incumbent MP for Mayaro Rushton Paray being replaced, Cumuto/Manzanilla MP Dr Rai Ragbir refusing to submit himself for screening, and Dinesh Rambally withdrawing his bid for the Chaguanas West seat, citing “unprofessionalism, poor judgment, and internal dysfunction in the leadership” of a party led by Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
