Farley Augustine, political leader of the Tobago People’s Party (TPP), on Sunday launched a political attack against the Peoples national Movement (PNM) and other political parties in the country.
Speaking at the TPP's convention and presentation of candidates at Rovanel's Resort, Augustine also addressed the controversial Sandals project in Tobago, which has become a focal point in the political battle.
Augustine responded directly to former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, who recently accused him and PDP leader Watson Duke of causing the collapse of the Sandals project. Augustine firmly defended his position, saying, "Tobagonians rejected the Sandals project because it was undemocratic, it lacked economic sense, and it did not meet our environmental standards." He also emphasised the need for proper negotiations with any international hotel brand that could meet Tobago's standards, whether it be Sandals, Seasons, or others.
