The Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM) will hold elec­tions for its PNM To­ba­go Coun­cil on April 19, as the par­ty be­gins a re­build­ing process fol­low­ing its sweep­ing elec­toral de­feat in To­ba­go ear­li­er this year.

The date was con­firmed by PNM chair­man Mar­vin Gon­za­les, who told re­porters out­side Par­lia­ment that the To­ba­go Coun­cil had for­mal­ly writ­ten to the par­ty’s Gen­er­al Coun­cil no­ti­fy­ing it of the planned elec­tion.

Gon­za­les al­so wel­comed the de­ci­sion by Sham­fa Cud­joe, the for­mer To­ba­go West MP and min­is­ter, to en­ter the race for lead­er­ship of the To­ba­go arm of the par­ty.
