ACTING Police Commissioner Junior Benjamin says concerns have long been raised within the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service about virtual court hearings within police stations, as some were crowded and lacked the facilities to effectively and safely hold them.
Benjamin was yesterday asked his thoughts on concerns raised by Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander, who last week said he had observed the courts using police stations, which he said were 'already cramped for space'.
Alexander had said there was a need to 'free up that space to give police officers that added resource in terms of the space for them to be able to accomplish their goal'.
