The North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) wishes to clarify recent media reports concerning the cancellation of Tender No. 2027-01 for the leasing of hand soap, toilet paper and paper towel dispensers, together with the supply of associated consumables for the new Central Block at the Port of Spain General Hospital.
The Authority wishes to reiterate that, as outlined in the official cancellation notice, the decision was taken to facilitate the necessary revisions to the procurement specifications in keeping with the anticipated commissioning timeline and phased operationalisation of Central Block. These revisions will include adjustments to the quantities of dispensers and associated consumables, the scope of work, the schedule of requirements and the pricing structure.
This decision and issuance of the notice were guided by the applicable public procurement framework as it relates to the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act, 2015 /Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property (Amendment) Act, 2026. Therefore, it should not, in itself, be interpreted as the dismissal or abandonment of the requirement for these essential supplies, or as jeopardising the wider Central Block operationalisation programme.
