A RETIRED fire officer has lost his legal challenge over a denied promotion after the Privy Council yesterday overturned a Court of Appeal ruling and sided with the Public Service Commission (PSC).
In its decision, the court held that the PSC had acted lawfully in refusing to promote former Fire Sub-Station Officer Ian Green because he did not possess the technical qualifications required for the post of Fire Station Officer (FSO).
The ruling clarified that the Executivenot the PSC-was the one with the authority to determine the minimum qualifications for public offices.
