Members of the public were given a rare opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the Barbados Port as it opened its gates for a behind-the-scenes look at daily maritime operations during its highly anticipated Port Open Day.

On Saturday, visitors were given unprecedented access to restricted areas, specialised machinery, and active vessels.

Divisional Manager of Business Development and Strategy Jane Broome said the event was designed to bridge the gap between the facility and the local community.
