KINGSTON, Jamaica—Jamaica was eliminated from the FIBA World Championships qualifiers Monday, after they were beaten 116-78 by Canada at the TD Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario, as the home team secured their place in the second round with a perfect record in the FIBA Americas first round, Group B.
Andrew Thelwell scored a game-high 25 points for Jamaica, one of three Jamaicans to score in double digits, as the visitors trailed by as many as 41 points.
Canada, who had seven players scoring in double digits, topped the points table with 12 points, while Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and Jamaica all ended on eight points.
