Se­nior po­lice of­fi­cials in the Port-of-Spain Di­vi­sion have vowed not to let Sun­day’s shoot­ing along Ari­api­ta Av­enue in Wood­brook off­set the 66 per cent de­cline in homi­cides they have man­aged to record be­tween Jan­u­ary 1 to present.

While they have de­scribed the killing of Je­lani George as un­for­tu­nate and trag­ic, of­fi­cials said they have worked hard to keep the mur­ders down.

A to­tal of 32 mur­ders were record­ed in Port-of-Spain up to Sun­day for 2025, com­pared to the 90-plus killings that were record­ed in 2024.
