Senior police officials in the Port-of-Spain Division have vowed not to let Sunday’s shooting along Ariapita Avenue in Woodbrook offset the 66 per cent decline in homicides they have managed to record between January 1 to present.
While they have described the killing of Jelani George as unfortunate and tragic, officials said they have worked hard to keep the murders down.
A total of 32 murders were recorded in Port-of-Spain up to Sunday for 2025, compared to the 90-plus killings that were recorded in 2024.
