Defence attorneys to withdraw services from courts islandwide Monday

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Following unsuccessful discussions with the Ministry of Justice, defence attorneys have been directed to withdraw legal services from all criminal courts islandwide on Monday as clashes over minimum mandatory sentences in the Firearms Prohibition Restriction and Regulation Act 2022 continue.

The action is expected to affect Parish Courts, Circuit Courts and Gun Courts.

Another day of industrial action, specifically targeting the Gun Courts, is scheduled on Tuesday.
