As the world marks the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, the Trinidad and Tobago Federation of Veterans Associations (FVA) has issued a statement honouring the nation's contributions to the Second World War and paying tribute to those who served and sacrificed for global peace.
VE Day, observed annually on May 8, commemorates the end of the Second World War in Europe in 1945, when Nazi Germany officially surrendered to the Allied Forces. This year’s milestone marks eight decades since that historic moment, which signaled the beginning of the end of a conflict that reshaped the modern world.
In its statement, the FVA reflected on the courage, unity, and sacrifice of those who fought against tyranny. "This day remains a powerful reminder of the courage, unity, and resolve that triumphed over oppression and defended the principles of freedom and human dignity," the Federation noted.
