Seventeen-year-old Zwade Alleyne remains alive but in critical condition, contrary to social media reports on Tuesday claiming he had died. His uncle confirmed around 2:30 p.m. that Alleyne is still being treated at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.

Alleyne, a standout player in his community’s football academy, was shot in the head on Saturday night in front of his mother’s apartment in Maloney.

According to police, around 10:52 p.m., officers from the Northern Division Task Force responded to a shooting at Building 12. They learned that Alleyne had already been rushed to the Arima Hospital by a neighbour.
