A TOBAGO businessman, a businesswoman and a company have been committed to stand trial in the High Court over an alleged multi-million-dollar Value Added Tax (VAT) fraud involving more than $2.3 million invoiced to the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
The ruling was made during a virtual hearing on March 2 before Master Kimitria Grey, who found that the evidence disclosed a prima facie case against Richie Habib, Yolande Clarke and Habib International Ltd.
The charge alleges that the trio conspired to cheat the public revenue of $2,361,801.14 in VAT between August 1, 2016, and December 31, 2021, in Scarborough.
