Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar has fired back at Op­po­si­tion Leader Pene­lope Beck­les, brand­ing her an “ex­pert in in­ter­fer­ence,” af­ter Beck­les pub­licly ques­tioned the in­de­pen­dence of Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Al­lis­ter Gue­var­ro.

Dur­ing a me­dia brief­ing yes­ter­day, Beck­les raised con­cerns about the im­par­tial­i­ty of the po­lice lead­er­ship un­der Gue­var­ro. She cit­ed three re­cent de­vel­op­ments she be­lieves cast doubt on the CoP’s im­par­tial­i­ty: his pub­lic en­dorse­ment of the pro­posed stand-your-ground leg­is­la­tion; his re­port­ed de­ci­sion to with­draw se­cu­ri­ty from for­mer prime min­is­ters Dr Kei­th Row­ley and Stu­art Young; and his an­nounce­ment of the State of Emer­gency be­fore the Gov­ern­ment.
