The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) is calling for greater emphasis on early education to prevent ethnic prejudice, urging schools, families and community institutions to instill values of mutual respect, understanding and peaceful coexistence among children from a young age.
This call was made recently by Deputy Chairman Ogle when the ERC engaged residents of Wales and neighbouring communities in a stakeholder consultation on Wednesday, at the Toevlugt/Patentia Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC), Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara)
The engagement provided a platform for citizens to raise community concerns, exchange perspectives with Commissioners and explore practical ways to strengthen social cohesion, mutual respect and harmonious relations.
