BUFFETED by criticisms over its request for a 51 per cent rate hike, the National Water Commission (NWC) has outlined a five-pillar revenue reform programme on which it has embarked.
Addressing a meeting of the Jamaica Observer Press Club last Wednesday, NWC officials and the minister with portfolio responsibility for the entity Matthew Samuda outlined the programme which, they said, should improve service delivery and reduce its financial risk to the Government.
The programme includes renegotiated water tariffs, debt restructuring, an energy overhaul, reduced water losses, and the commercialisation of its land holdings.
