The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) has deployed a team of Commissioners and staff to Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) to provide support to families affected by the MV Barima tragedy, as the country observes a period of national mourning.
Led by Chairman Shaikh Moeenul Hack, the delegation visited locations where the bodies of those who lost their lives are being received, including the Charity River Dam, Suddie Hospital and the Suddie Funeral Parlour.
In a release on Wednesday evening, the ERC said that the team met with grieving relatives, offering words of comfort, emotional support and counselling while listening to their concerns.
