(Kaieteur News) – The Government of Guyana (GoG) on Friday announced the arrival of the fifth Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO) to the country, as installation activities commence ahead of first oil in the fourth quarter of this year.
In a statement to the media, the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) said the fifth FPSO, Errea Wittu, which is the largest vessel in the country’s current fleet, was constructed by a Japanese firm, MODEC. Guyana has four other FPSOs that are already producing oil in the Stabroek Block.
Government said the fifth vessel is expected to commence production activities in the fourth, increasing the country’s daily capacity to well over one million barrels per day (bpd). It was designed to process approximately 250,000 bpd with the capacity for gas treatment (540 million cubic feet per day), water injection (350,000 barrels per day), and handling produced water (300,000 barrels per day).
