Mottley Calls BLP to ‘Mission Transformation’ at Annual Conference

Prime Minister Mia Mottley told the Barbados Labour Party’s annual conference that the party has moved from “mission critical” and “mission survival” during COVID-19 to “mission transformation” after its third straight 30-0 election win. She said the February mandate was to build new things, fix what remains broken, and govern for the whole country by fighting poverty and injustice.

Prime Minister Mia Mottley told a packed Barbados Labour Party conference at St. George Secondary School that Barbadians must take responsibility for their actions if the country is to move forward. Speaking under the theme “Building Beyond the Victory,” she said building a better nation is not the Government’s job alone, but a shared duty.

Barbados Labour Party leader Mia Mottley says the party will hold a constitutional congress in February 2027 to consider reforms to how its leader is chosen and how members are held accountable. She said delegates should have a bigger role in leadership selection and that the changes are meant to modernise the party and strengthen internal accountability.

The Barbados Labour Party is honouring long-serving members, grassroots supporters and outstanding Barbadians at its 87th Annual Conference, held at St George Secondary School in St George North. Party leaders are also using the event to reflect on labour rights, national development and the work still ahead.
