Attorney Philip Nicholls Dies After Collapsing at Barbados Supreme Court

Attorney-at-law Philip Nicholls collapsed in the Supreme Court this morning and was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died. His death is a loss to Barbados’ legal community; he was also a former secretary of the Barbados Cricket Association and the son of the late Sir Neville Nicholls.

Veteran cricket administrator and attorney Philip Nicholls, a former Barbados Cricket Association secretary and West Indies Cricket Board director, died suddenly after collapsing in Supreme Court, shocking Barbados’ cricket and legal communities. Colleagues remembered “Lumpy” as a courteous, dedicated servant of the game with strong ties to Pickwick Cricket Club.

Attorney-at-law Philip Nicholls died after collapsing during proceedings at the Supreme Court on Monday morning. He was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Nicholls was also a former long-serving secretary of the Barbados Cricket Association and the son of the late Sir Neville Nicholls, former president of the Caribbean Development Bank.
