(Kaieteur News) – Turkey is turning to Guyana for oil supplies as escalating Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia’s Black Sea export infrastructure disrupt shipments and squeeze supplies to one of the world’s major crude buyers.
According to Reuters, Turkey sharply reduced its purchases of Russian oil in July and is expected to cut them even further this month, with Guyana and Brazil emerging as alternative sources of crude.
Turkey received about 900,000 tonnes of oil from Russian ports in July, down from 1.2 million tonnes in June, according to LSEG shipping data. Supplies arriving directly through Russia’s Black Sea ports plunged by half, from about 600,000 tonnes in June to just over 300,000 tonnes in July.
