(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Health has rejected claims that two doctors whose contracts were terminated by the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) were dismissed for gross negligence, insisting that both doctors were released strictly in accordance with the terms of their employment contracts and received all contractual benefits.
In a letter addressed to the newspaper’s Editor, the Ministry refuted a key claim contained in the June 25, 2026 edition, which carried the headline: “Doctors fired over toddler’s death quietly rehired by Ministry of Health, placed at Diamond hospital.”
According to the Ministry, the article incorrectly stated that the two doctors, Dr. Marissa Seepersaud and Dr. Yala Gomez, had been terminated by the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for gross negligence.
