A 17-year-old student was injured early Tuesday morning in Couva when the vehicle she was driving collided with an electricity pole and a parked Amalgamated Security Services vehicle.
According to police reports, the teenager, who does not hold a driving permit, left her home without permission between 12:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. while her mother was asleep. The white Nissan AD Wagon she was driving struck a T&TEC electricity pole, which fell onto the car, and also made contact with a parked white Toyota Hiace at the front of the security company’s compound on Southern Main Road, California, Couva.
The driver sustained injuries to her head, shoulder, and pelvis and was initially treated at the Couva Health Facility before being transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital for further observation.
