(Kaieteur News) – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has denied breaching the Environmental Protection Act as the Government of Guyana (GoG) streamlines a second phase of the Wales Gas-to-Energy (GTE) project.
The regulator in a statement on Wednesday, in response to an article published by Kaieteur News on 11th October, 2026, denied that procedures set out in the Act, related to the conduct of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) were not followed for the Wales development.
Concerns were raised by former EPA head, Dr. Vincent Adams that no decision regarding an EIA for Phase Two of the GTE project was published although government has already moved to invite bids for construction activities.
