Richards credits Roach for placing him on track to stardom

Cur­rent World Ath­let­ics Cham­pi­onship sil­ver medal­list in the men’s 400 me­tres, Jereem Richards is one of a long list of lo­cal ath­letes left shell-shocked by news of the sud­den pass­ing of ath­lete man­ag­er and renowned busi­ness­man, Sean Roach.

Roach, 46, passed away from a re­port­ed heart at­tack on Mon­day, leav­ing the lo­cal ath­let­ics fra­ter­ni­ty stunned and dev­as­tat­ed.

When con­tact­ed by Guardian Me­dia Sport a few hours af­ter the news broke, Richards said, “Hear­ing that news to­day, I still hon­est­ly don’t even be­lieve it.”
