Barbados joins CARICOM-Mexico aid shipment to Cuba

Barbados has contributed food supplies, mainly powdered milk, to a CARICOM humanitarian shipment delivered to Cuba with Mexico’s assistance amid severe shortages caused by the intensified American blockade of the island.

The delivery is the 13th shipment of its kind to reach Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment in Havana. Among the assistance from CARICOM, Barbados contributed food to help Cuban families facing food shortages.

The shipment fulfills a commitment made by the bloc’s leaders earlier this year to support Havana as its economic difficulties worsened.
