IT simply cannot be deemed fair for an individual to serve as Prime Minister for a minimal period and subsequently receive a lifetime monthly pension of $87,000, Legal Affairs Minister Saddam Hosein stressed yesterday.
This stark reality stands in sharp contrast to the plight of other dedicated public servants who must commit many years of their lives to service before qualifying for a pension that pales significantly in comparison to what a prime minister previously received, he said.
Hosein articulated this position at a United National Congress news conference while discussing The Prime Minister’s Pension (Amendment) Bill 2025 which was passed in the House of Representatives last Friday.
