The Government is investing more than $9 billion in school nutrition, as part of efforts to improve children’s health, strengthen educational outcomes and promote healthy eating habits across the education system.
Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, Dr Dana Morris Dixon, made the disclosure while addressing the National School Nutrition Policy Certification Ceremony at Bartons Primary and Infant School in St Catherine on October 29.
She said that the funds, a portion of which will be directed towards making more fresh produce available to schools, reflects the importance the Government places on ensuring that children receive nutritious meals to support their growth, development and academic performance.
