A calendar of activities was launched Friday for Barbados’ 60th anniversary of Independence and fifth year as a Republic, with community projects, retail discounts, an oratory competition and sporting events among the planned celebrations.
Attorney General Wilfred Abrahams told a media launch of the National Calendar of Independence Celebrations at Ilaro Court on Friday that the milestone offered an opportunity for Barbadians of all ages to participate and create lasting memories.
He said: “Barbados, the countdown to 60 and five is on. Our entire team is excited, the ideas have been flowing, preparations taking shape, and today, we want to share that excitement with you.”
