T&T defends staying for Netanyahu address; reaffirms two-state policy

Trinidad and To­ba­go did not join dozens of del­e­ga­tions that walked out of the Unit­ed Na­tions Gen­er­al As­sem­bly (UN­GA) dur­ing Is­raeli Prime Min­is­ter Ben­jamin Ne­tanyahu’s ad­dress on Thurs­day, with the coun­try’s UN Am­bas­sador Dr Neil Parsan say­ing Trinidad and To­ba­go re­mains com­mit­ted to a two-state so­lu­tion in which a se­cure Is­rael ex­ists along­side an in­de­pen­dent Pales­tin­ian state.

Parsan con­firmed to Guardian Me­dia yes­ter­day that Trinidad and To­ba­go’s del­e­ga­tion re­mained in the Gen­er­al As­sem­bly hall through­out Ne­tanyahu’s ad­dress, stress­ing that its pres­ence should not be in­ter­pret­ed as sup­port for his re­marks or as a change in the coun­try’s po­si­tion on the Is­raeli-Pales­tin­ian con­flict.
